Mp3 and polyphonic ring tones

the next generation phones' sound

Ten years ago the familiar ring-ring tone emanating from your pocket was good enough, in the fact that it was coming from out of your pocket. Five years ago people decided they needed a little more jazz in their ring tones and we got the polyphonic models. Today a cell phone is capable of playing back mp3 format, and many people store something like 30-40 favorite songs in their mobiles just to hear them on a headphone/speaker phone while traveling etc.

MP3 ring tones

Assigning mp3 ringtones to your phone is quite easy to do , and most phones that accept mp3 format are quite user friendly as well. The drawback is the speaker of your mobile phone wasn’t designed to play real audio, and mp3 sounds much better on an external head set. So if you still want a mp3 ring tones, the smart way to go would be to choose a simple track that doesn’t have too many instruments at one time – for example Don Mc Lean would sound better than Beethoven’s Symphony – you get the point! On the other hand, we today have cell phones coming out with the mega bass sound option as well! But it will be a couple of years yet that a cell phone will be able to truly play back a song and justify its quality. Meanwhile, we have thousands of mp3 ring tones to choose from on the net. Do remember, with the modernization of equipment comes the added responsibility and care that has always been the case with technology. Only download your ring tones from trusted websites to avoid the possibility to download a virus with it. Fixing a virus problem on a cell phone is not as easy as using an antivirus on a home PC, and you probably wont be able to do it yourself.

Polyphonic ringtones

Polyphonic ringtones, unlike mp3 are designed for your cell phone. So, although, maybe not always as attractive as your favorite rock number, your mobile phone speaker is able to do some justice to the ring tone in this case. Remember that mission impossible ring tone everyone was getting a few years ago? That sounded so much better than an mp3 because it was designed keeping the capabilities of your cell phone speaker in mind. If you a little bit into sound editing you could download the polyphonic ring tone wizard and other simple and similar programs that allow you to edit sound files and make them cell phone-friendly. Normally these programs are really small and something like 16 MB of RAM is sufficient. If you don’t want to go through all this trouble to get new ringtones, well there’s the classic method – just find a friend who has the tone you want and ask him or her to message it to you!
